Barnett has been busy with some really great stuff over the last six months, which is great for fans of her grungy, yet poppy, sound. She released Lotta Sea Lice with Kurt Vile in October, which was fun -- I love both artists. And now, we await her next LP, Tell Me How You Really Feel, which isn’t out until May, but we do get to nibble at it with “Nameless, Faceless.”
I’m reminded of another Courtney when I listen to this track. There are certainly shades of the '90s coloring the picture being painted here, yet it isn’t totally derivative at all. This still sounds more like Barnett than Love, no question, though slightly different than what she has given us in the past, which, as it stands with this single, is possibly a good thing.
