Coupe II is the 80s themed follow-up to producer Countach's 2016 EP Coupe. Drenched in nostalgia and 80s electronic flavors, the nine-track release sits somewhere between the pulsating beats of the Drive soundtrack, the sparkling productions of Kavinsky and M83's synth-pop.
20-year-old Countach is both a rapper and producer, with Couple II including a number of instrumental tracks alongside hip-hop bangers and synth-centric compositions. The nine-track release also features guest appearances from Arizona singer AMS, Atlanta artist Nick Diminico, and Florida guitarist Dami.
Both the electric guitar rocker "I Hate That I Love You" and video game sounding "Horizon" are highlights, but my favourite track is the Nick Diminico featuring "Demo 38." Manipulated vocals, trap percussion and pulsating synths make up the track's foundation, with Diminico providing the rhymes for what is an excellent tune.
