I'm sitting in a cafe in Paris when I hear Cotton Jones. His frank and familiar voice pulls me out of my late morning slump, like someone tugging the sheets off your bed to wake you up. I stop. I stare. It's that little lick he keeps repeating on the guitar. Those strings pull me back. Sitting on the grass, smiling. Like it's 2009 all over again...
Cotton Jones' sound exudes nostalgia. We covered them back in 2011, with Lauren identifying their sound as "a little country and a little bit of fuzzy reverb ... full of memory, longing, and anticipation -- all at once." Simply put, Michael Nau warbling voice and Whitney McGraw's restful harmonies are irresistible.
So enjoy this piece from 2009. Let the hours pass. And don't forget to check in on their News Section once and a while so you don't miss stuff like their living room tour (which was last month).
