I am in love the recent influx of R&B-inspired electronic music that’s going around right now. Feels to me like it’s popping up everywhere now, and it’s so darn great.
Okay, so this track isn't overly R&B styled, but there’s a hint of it, especially in the vocals. Speaking of which, the vocalist here is a London-based artist that I hadn't come across before – Wild Eyed Boy.
As you might expect judging by the title, "Snare" is about what love can do to capture, puzzle, and delude. The Sydney-based twin brothers that are Cosmo’s Midnight are convincing in that regard. I appreciate this for its simplicity, slow tempo, charming vocals, added synths, and all-round wonderful take on another genre thing I'm into right now: low-end house.
There's more new and original stuff to come from Cosmo’s Midnight. They're working on an EP release due out next year. Until then, you can find them on the festival circuit around Australia this coming summer.
