2013 has been an incredible break-out year for Sydney's Cosmo and Patrick Liney, otherwise known as Cosmo's Midnight. The beatmakers released their celebrated debut EP Surge back in June. They've also established themselves as live performers time and time again, appearing alongside the likes of xxyyxx, Cashmere Cat, and AlunaGeorge. Now, in the lead-up to Christmas, they've decided to give us a present in the form of a two-track release.
While both tracks are winners, I've decided to share "Goodnight," mostly because it also features fellow Sydney duo Polographia (who I'm expecting big things from in 2014!). Heavy beats and rapid rhythms are combined with more delicate elements in the form of watery breakdowns and R&B-styled vocals. It's got all the trimmings that have paved the way for the brother's success. The second track, "Moshi," is a much glitchier affair, tapping into that frantic, futuristic sound that Australian electronica has embraced.
