It may sound (or feel) a little corny, but there’s something satisfying about seeing an artist you’ve watched for a while finally settle into a sound that suits them best.
It’s been an interesting journey for Corbin up to this point. At 16, he first made waves as crooning goth teen Spooky Black, before experimenting with new sounds on two collaborative projects, The Stand4rd and couch potato (with Bobby Raps). Since dropping the moniker and switching up his sound and style, Corbin has been refining his talents while working with producers like Shlohmo and D33j.
His new album Mourn showcases a greater understanding of how to harness and express his vocal talents to their best ability. And with the artistic development we’ve seen from Corbin in just 3 years, I expect to keep being pleasantly surprised by him in the future.
