A couple of months back, we covered Melbourne four-piece Contrast's single "Pipe Dreams." Their combination of post-punk and psych won me over immediately. Now, with their second EP, Less than Zero, out today, it's clear they've followed up their early work with a stellar five tracks of grit and substance.
I'm a bit slow on this one, as the band debuted the EP's title track a few days ago, but here goes anyway: "Less than Zero" is a little sunnier than some of the EP's other tracks, but it's excellent nonetheless. It's that lazy sort of sound that can only be properly created with skill and organization, so not very lazy at all huh? This is a fantastic, toe-tapping track that's hard not to fall for.
The EP itself is a great independent release, and should be snapped up immediately from Contrast's Bandcamp. I know what's good for you!
