Why do we like this?

When you consider everything Communions has released so far, it can be a little difficult to pin down the rubric their music falls under. Depending on what you're listening to, they can be punk, post-punk, shoegaze, and even surf rock-ish, though it's important to note that none of the songs are ever those genres entirely, but rather an amalgamation of varying elements where one is a tad more pervasive. If there's an identifiable constant, it's the group's penchant for expansive sounds that, at times, border on being anthemic.

The band said that single "Out Of My World"  feels like an expression of the musical identity they're finally beginning to discover. That discovery comes in the form of guitar-driven hooks akin to what made past tunes "So Long Sun" and "Love Stands Still" so infectious. It's not exactly unfamiliar territory, but here Communions sound bolder. There's an undeniable fervor behind the catchy Johnny Marr-esque melodies and persistent drumming that barrel fearlessly through the track, projecting a certain confidence, which is perhaps the result of the quartet having figured themselves out.

"Out Of My World" is audacious without the recklessness, and it's more than fitting for a song that makes a grand statement about "the strange first sensation of meeting someone new and the way it can make you feel like anything is possible."
