We haven't been posting a whole lot of folk music lately. Maybe that's because the more-mellow vibe just isn't that well-suited for our usually-upbeat home feed. Fortunately the world is anything but consistent, which means I don't really need an excuse to inject a bit of a mellow, folked-out vibe into Indie Shuffle.
Enter Column, a "super band" comprised of the members of Post Animal and Twin Peaks' Cadien James. Okay, sure, it's less of a super band and more of a collaboration. But that's not important here.
What's important is that this combination of artists has pulled off a sound that's fairly unique in 2019. I think a lot of that is owing to the fact that the instrumentals were recorded on a "50s' portable reel to reel tape machine." It adds a wonderful layer of texture that I think is the ultimate reason I feel so inclined to share it today.
