The sample might be one of the most underrated musical tools at a producer's fingertips. I know many an artist has been upset over the use of one of their samples, and I can't imagine a film or TV executive stoked to hear a sample borrowed from one of their films or shows. But there is something in re-purposing a snippet of a vocal, or line from a movie, that grabs your attention.
It's like a musical collage, where everything is cut up, re-imagined, and put back together to showcase the producers love, hopes, and dreams. While it takes a little more than some rubber cement to put together these tracks together, for tonight's Sunday Night Chill I've got a few tracks with some beautiful use of different types of samples. So, I suppose it's kind of like a collage of a collage.
