It's been a few months since Coldplay released their single "Every Teardrop is a Waterfall" and I haven't seen one single remix until today. Sure, you might argue that that's because Coldplay isn't the type of band you'd expect to see get remixed. I'd have to agree with you -- particularly when you consider the tone of their older, more mellow work. The one exception -- I think I've seen them smooshed with MGMT before, but that's about it.
This new Swedish House Mafia remix, however, is pretty darn epic, transforming the already upbeat track into a house banger that I actually might prefer to the original. Blasphemy? Not really. Remixes tend to add a whole new element to original tracks that, I'd reckon, makes them better 50% of the time. It's all totally subjective, but this just happens to be one such case where I think I might prefer this to the original.
