Today's Song of the Day isn't new, but I was reminded of its awesomeness after reading some news about CocoRosie.
In June 2012 they are set to release a new single, "We Are On Fire," recorded with David Sitek in L.A. After getting an email with this exciting news, I started clicking around on Touch and Go's website, and saw a link to "Rainbowarriors," off their 2007 masterpiece album, The Adventures of Ghosthorse and Stillborn.
The Casady sisters, Bianca "Coco" and Sierra "Rosie," record mythical, otherworldly, freak folk that sounds like it was recorded in an old Victorian mansion's attic. Combining random instruments (including a Dictaphone) and child-like vocals reminiscent of Joanna Newsom, the girls still manage to create something that is entirely original.
Enjoy "Rainbowarriors," and look out for their upcoming single!
P.S. Pitchfork gave the album this track is featured on a rating of 2.3 out of 10. Um, what? No.
