Why do we like this?

Have we got any fans of The O.C. here? There are oh-so-many great tracks from the series, but the one that has remained close to my heart is Coconut Records' "West Coast" led by Jason Schwartzman. Funny enough, this is the same man that wrote the ever iconic "California" when he was a part of Phantom Planet.

It's been a good seven years since its release, but I'm loving the fact that New York quartet Mainland have decided to revisit this classic song. I absolutely adore it for its simplicity, and Mainland has done a brilliant job at reacquainting us with all the subtle elements that made this track so wonderfully quaint and charming.

The added guitar riff at the two-minute mark does wonders in lifting this track to anthemic heights. A faultless cover if I do say so myself!
