Some nights, you want to skip the veggies at dinner and head straight for a bowl of ice cream. Sometimes you just want to get right to the good stuff. That’s how Clubhouse's "Weekend" feels.
It’s peppy right from the start. There’s not much of a build-up, but it doesn’t really need one since it carries a consistent sound. Clubhouse isn’t trying too hard to make this tune catchy.
The beat falls on the softer side. It's definitely strong, but never overwhelming or harsh. A quick instrumental break right before the second verse flawlessly breaks up the track and shows off their soothing synth.
The lyrics also caught my ear. I adore all the imagery about falling in love (but keep in mind I’m a sucker for all kinds of cheesy and cliche romance.) The lines about hanging out on rooftops, driving in a vintage car, and crushing hard on someone are totally classic.
