Why do we like this?
Before creating Dirtybird (one of our favorite San Francisco-based electronic labels), Claude VonStroke, aka Barclay Crenshaw, was solidifying his DJ chops in Detroit, MI. Claude didn't fully immerse himself in electronic music until he was in his 30s, but it was this late start that provided him the comfort of stylistic exploration.

We've posted many tracks from other Dirtybird residents, but have yet to showcase one from the endlessly inventive label boss himself. I was just about to review Claude's latest single, "Can't Wait" (which deserves a post of its own), but with this being his first time on the Shuffle, I decided he deserved a proper introduction.

What better way to initiate Claude VonStroke than with one of his most influential tracks, "Who's Afraid of Detroit?" His unique approach paired with an evocative title branded this melancholy track as an instant classic. As one of my all time favorites, "Who's Afraid of Detroit?" never ceases to bring a smile to my face -- it's nostalgic in all the right ways, so I hope you can enjoy it in the same way I do!
