Why do we like this?
So, I normally wouldn't write up a post for a track that has already been remixed by a producer. Some things in life are better left in the past to stand as they are, monuments to who we once were. On the other hand, you can't tell me that if you were handed the keys to Doc's Deloreon, you wouldn't take yourself back in time to set a few things right. Seems like Neo-Safari had exactly that opportunity.
Taking a completely different approach to the Classixx track "Borderline," Neo-Safari makes it unrecognizable from his first stab at the remix, or from even the original. Shifting the vocals way down low and keeping the pace nice and slow, Neo-Safari evokes a much more chilled-out vibe with a hint of some dark R&B. It definitely makes "Borderline" feel a lot more introspective as the effected guitar slogs on over simple synth lines, begging you to think back on your own mistakes and triumphs.
Too bad they aren't as easy to revisit as Neo-Safari reloading a track back into Ableton, guess I'll just get back to work on my time machine.
