City of the Sun is a trio made up of New Yorkers, John Pita, Avi Snow, and Zach Para, who got their start playing music on the streets of New York City at subway stations and public squares. The three, made up of two guitarists and one percussionist, create songs with dancing melodies, vibrant guitar, and percussive undertones which mesh seamlessly.
They're acoustic-instrumental, yet genre-bending. I find it hard to fit their music into one box. John Pita said in an interview,
"A lot of times, bands come together choosing a sound, and we didn’t. A lot of people like shooting for something, precision in what they want to express. In a way, we don’t do that so much. So it’s kind of a beautiful thing in its right.”
I think this mindset has allowed their music to be as organic and raw as it is.
They recently released their new single "Under the Same Sky" saying,"Over the past few months we’ve been contemplating our journey, humanity, the universe. City of the Sun Chapter III is about our introspection."
