The UK indie scene hit its peak in the mid 00s before becoming an overpopulated landfill of Bloc Party and Kasabian copycats. Fast forward 10 years and the genre is slowly making a comeback, where highly talented and creative acts are invigorating the scene with new energy. One such band is Cinema.
The Birmingham five-piece -- David, Alex, Thomas, Ben, and Jake -- are an eclectic bunch with a deep musical background. Their sound is made up of not only the usual indie fare of guitars, drums, and bass, but also piano, keyboards, synth, samplers, and live percussion, with the lads even switching duties throughout their shows.
"Move On," the collective's first release, is a joyous bundle of indie pop energy exploding with exuberance. Self-produced by the band, "Move On" is an upbeat thumper with a terrific melody grounded in reality with lyrics discussing how bittersweet change and nostalgia can be.
In short, this one is a belter that you won't be able to turn off.
