Why do we like this?

So much for no new music on Memorial Day (in the United States). I suppose that when the waves are calm, may as well unleash your boat...

CHVRCHES haven't released anything since February's "Recover," so this new single titled "Gun" is a bit of a pleasant surprise. That said -- it's also slightly underwhelming. It's hard to pinpoint exactly what's missing, besides saying that there simply isn't any stand-out "hook."

What's your take? Game changer, or synth-pop sleep-inducer?
