This is a project I've been interested in since I saw their NPR Tiny Desk Concert performance.
Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah is a Grammy nominated artist who will be releasing three albums this year as part of his series The Centennial Trilogy. Today Christian announced the second release "Diaspora" (out via Ropeadope) with the release of the album’s title track. It features flutist Elena Pinderhughes - Christian’s frequent collaborator who was just interviewed by Noisey about her collaboration with Future.
I love the gentleness of this one. The trumpet and sax blend in so effortlessly with the flute and the resulting textures allow an intricate piece of music to feel feather light. It's just a second glimpse into what the The Centennial Trilogy has to offer in terms the different emotions on display when touching on subjects such as struggle, heartbreak, hope and celebration.
Keep an eye out for future release dates.
