Why do we like this?

You may have already heard music by Chris Bartels, even if the name doesn't ring a bell. Between his commercial and personal projects, this producer and composer is in the middle of a thriving and still burgeoning career.

But he finally breaks away from his other bands and monikers (Elskavon, Bora York, Hi-Fi Cali) to again release something by his own name. "Missoula" is the teaser for an experimental, soulful, and dynamic side of Bartels that will be released on Myths and Mold in late April.

With a complex layering of drums and percussion, a wide echoing of multiple microphones, and lower registers than Bartels' typical fare, he departs from stricter musical boundaries to a sphere ruled only by imagination.
