Something’s been brewing in the waters in Canberra, and it’s been spitting out some of the freshest dance music in the world.
Upcoming producer Sondrio has put his own signature on Chet Faker’s "Gold," which recently ranked 7th in the annual Triple J Hottest 100.
I’m not usually one for house remixes, but I'm really liking his version of this gorgeous track. Taking one of the more groove-heavy tracks on Chet's album -- complete with vocal loops and a sensual bass -- Sondrio has tacked on a smooth house beat, bubbly synth chords and an understated yet driving bass rhythm. While the soulful intimacy of the original is lost in the beats, the velvety vocals and emotional atmosphere still shines through.
It's the kind of track that truly encapsulated the idea of the "remix" -- taking one great song and making it something new, different, and totally cool.
