First impression: This song is a year old— should I even bother? Second impression: What do I have to lose? It's 1:14AM; there's nothing better to do. Third impression: Who the hell is Violet? Should I be concerned for her well-being? Fourth impression: Why does Chemise Cagoule only have ~150 followers on SoundCloud?
I had a realization upon my fourth impression of "Violet." I think that artists like this –with extremely unique, abstract soundscapes – tend to get swept under the rug. Why is that, you may ask? Well, likely because people would rather do the running man, and fist bump to your everyday big room house tune before they take the time to delve into something unfamiliar.
My great grandmother always told me, "if you keep making that face, it may get stuck like that." I honestly believe the same goes for people's poor decisions in music listening. So with that being said, give change a chance, and allow the droney lo-fi music to corrupt your soul.
