Since falling in love with Chelou's "Out of Site" I've been wanting to write up a song of theirs. This one doesn't knock me off my feet but it definitely tickles that thing we call one's fancy.
I looked up the lyrics to "In the Meantime" but I failed to grasp what this Camden-born multi-instrumentalist was trying to convey. In the meantime, I'll just elaborate in my own weird way...following in the footsteps of Chelou whose French moniker roughly translates to "bizarre."
There's something about the liminal space that is quite captivating. Captivating in that one is in a state other than enrapture or distress, and so, is free or, in a sense, left to one's own devices. Let me explain: when we're caught up by something, or, we could say, focussed, it can be all-consuming. We become like a train — the destination is set and we simply follow the tracks. However, it is the space between two moments of attention that we find a more expansive reality, one in which we can pass time in a manner free from any desired outcome.
It is 'in the meantime spaces' that I would like to dwell today, and so, I am going to hit play on Chelou's "In the Meantime" one more time. Join me?
