Why do we like this?
Those of you in the Northern hemisphere are headed into some colder weather, which likely means tossing aside upbeat, nu-disco sounds for something a little bit grungier and down-to-earth.
Personally, I'm taking a one-way flight to the Southern hemisphere, but if I were stuck in the North, there's a good chance I'd give Chaparrals' new album Elpis a few listens.
The Boston-based band release their debut later this month, and lead single "My Own Drama" stands out to me for its lo-fi, indie rock sound. It's simple, with a tone that stays consistent with the album's ethos: "hope" (of which Elpis was the Greek personification).
If you dig it, stay tuned on their website for the upcoming release (September 30th).
