Why do we like this?
I'd like to start off by saying a massive thank you to the Sub Pop guys for still sticking around and for being probably the best record label ever (okay, alongside Young Turks). The world would be a much sadder place without you.
With this in mind, last night I was surfing through my SoundCloud subscriptions and guess what? Not only is Chad VanGaalen releasing his new album, but the first single, "Where Are You?," is already out! Usually, this kind of music would be too heavy for me to listen on a daily basis, but this time it just clicked.
Rumor has it that over the past three years, Chad's been learning how to play pedal steel guitar. Yeah, you can actually hear it on the record. It's like Tame Impala went psychedelic. Plus, it has this weird country flavoring. All in all, the result sounds extremely good.
Lo-fi apocalypse. Space travel music. Canada.
