First of all, how did I just find out about this band? I'm offended and slightly disrespected. Cayucas, Los Angeles-based surf rock group, released their fourth album, Blue Summer, towards the end of September. Leading song, "Yeah Yeah Yeah," was the first track I heard off the album, and the sweet bassline pulled me in, naturally.
Looking at the album art, I thought, "Is this a great job in Photoshop? Because I'm seeing double." Well jokes on me, Cayucas is comprised of twin brothers, Zach and Ben Yudin.
If you decide to check out Blue Summer in it's entirety, you'll hear influence from the Beach Boys, especially in "Malibu '79 Long." Although the Northern Hemisphere is currently in the dead of winter, this album is teleporting me to a summer day in California, which is an invaluable mental location in the world's current climate.
Hope you enjoy x.
