There's a new mystery duo skulking around San Francisco. They call themselves Cathedrals, and based off their debut single, the twosome is headed down a fruitful musical path.
Soft and dreamy yet threaded with a little sadness, "Unbound" should be described as an impressive indie tune with pop tinges at the very least. With pendulant guitar, longing vocal harmonies, and a pensive bridge, Cathedrals nurses listeners back to pieces just as their lyrics state. This is the type of tune you want to put on during a rainy Sunday with a cup of tea, as it inspires self-reflection with each emotive note. For a first single, Cathedrals is undeniably getting it just right.
As their story unfolds (as it certainly will), it will be interesting to get to know more about the enigmatic Cathedrals. Give them a follow on SoundCloud to keep a top of the male/female duo yourselves.
Update: In celebration of their one year anniversary of the release of "Unbound," San Francisco's Cathedrals have just dropped a music video for the single. Directed by Sam Pressman, the video is an evocative supplement to the already intimate tune. If you're into sweet jams, ballerinas, and Sugar Cubes, check out the piece just below.
