I am more than ecstatic to premiere a brand new tune from San Francisco's Johnny Hwin and Brodie Jenkins, known to the masses as Cathedrals, in anticipation of their debut self-titled EP dropping next week.
Hot on the heels of "OOO AAA," their newest track "In The Dark" starts with a rough and snazzy beat that commands attention right away. Cathedrals always has a casual mastery of their beats, layered and multi-faceted. This latest single swings from fast to slow, flirtatious to serious, yielding an incredibly infectious melody.
Hwin on the guitar is simply beautiful, and Jenkins' vocals never cease to amaze with their versatile fluidity. The well-thought-out effects never overshadow, transitioning from psychedelic, distorted riffs to angelic whispers with ease.
These two artists share a palpable energy that is certainly something to take note of. If their short yet extremely memorable library continues in the same trajectory, we can expect big things from Cathedrals.
