Why do we like this?
A sad song for a bluesy kind of night (or day!), Cat Power -- with her rustic charm and quiet despondency -- delivers a love ballad synonymous to one of Shakespeare's poems. And like most of her songs, it seems to end too soon.

With Eddie Vedder's assistance, "Good Woman" has a composed entry with Power's soft voice balanced by assorted vocals that weave a wistful and steady melody, which has become her signature trademark. The lyrics, emitting that sort of quiet observer distinction representative of our musing songwriter, hold true on so many levels. And yet, in the midst of her beautiful voice and addicting refrains, it's easy to get lost in her songs, just like we get lost in our own heads, especially when life gets too heavy.

This song is by no means new; it came out on You Are Free in 2003. But like an old friend, "Good Woman" is one of those songs that will always stick by you. Sometimes we need to be reminded that older songs shouldn't be buried in our iTunes, ya know?
