Recently, Minneapolis-based Carroll debuted their indie psych pop single “Alligator” off their upcoming self-titled LP.
Connecting with renowned producer Jon Low (The War on Drugs, The National) after the release of their celebrated EP Needs, Carroll recorded their debut LP during 18 marathon days in Philadelphia.
Due out September 18, courtesy of eOne Music, the new project kickstarted with “Bad Water.” As a follow-up, “Alligator” is a bittersweet memory. With lyrics assuring a love – the alligator of the name, apparently – that will “let you down,” singer Brian Hurlow paints a quaint, sorrowful trip into the recent past.
Carroll itself evokes some of the best, relaxed alt-sounds from the mid-to-late 90s, a kind of mashup between Billy Corgan and Noel Gallagher.
