Carousel Stay Awake (The Soundmen Remix)

I know if I point out how similar these synths are on this track to Paul McCartney 's "Wonderful Christmas Time," they may be all you hear. I blame the holidays for even putting this comparison in my head, but there's a cheerful warmth to this Carousel remix, just like the one you feel during the holidays.

The thing I like about this version is that The Soundmen stripped away the bubblegum  pop of the original and extracted the essential essence. Wait... that's what I like about every successful remix, but rightfully so.

Since debuting on the Shuffle in November with a Voltaire Twins remix, The Soundmen have been keeping the pace with double leg ladder drills between electro-fuzz pop and hip hop-based electronic without trippin' up. Case in point, their recent remix of Jasmine Solano's "Cruisin" leaves the chill electro at the door and just goes straight for dirty club grinding. Gotta love that killer hook -- swagger like a female Big Sean.

Genre hopping is all about the balance and keeping a few common denominators,  so kudos to The Soundmen for figuring out the equation. If you like what you hear, both remixes are free for download.
