Carmada is the fresh collaboration between Aussie producers Yahtzel and L D R U. After playing a bunch of recent b2b sets, they've now officially joined forces. “Maybe” is the first single from their forthcoming EP, Realise. You better turn that volume up for this one!
“Maybe” opens with a bright piano and breathy vocals. You can tell this track is gonna rock from the moment the beat kicks in.
Oh. Then the beat drops. Mind is blown. All control is lost.
“Maybe” travels back and forth between soulful piano, synthy grooves and dubstep freak-out at an almost dizzying rate. It's powerful, it's groovy, it's got serious mojo.
This track is unapologetically funky. The sheer number of rhythms and styles packed into 4+ minutes is impressive. A seriously promising start for the new duo.
Carmada's debut EP Realise will be dropping next month. I cannot wait!
