Why do we like this?

I've been on a bit of a bossa nova kick lately, possibly owing to the warm weather down here in South Africa. The style has a naturally sunny disposition, and as such carbeau x mokina didn't have to work very hard to win me over.

The song is apparently inspired by "esperando na janela" by Gilberto Gil, though beyond the melody, the two are pretty far apart in general vibe.

carbeau and mokina have been writing and recording remotely for a couple years now. Apparently this song emerged from the ether within a few hours of their first in-person meeting after a long hiatus. Some of the lyrics do indeed capture that vibe, which adds an extra dimension.

All-in, here's hoping you enjoy my first selection of 2022 :)
