Much to Jay-Z's chagrin, Cam'ron is the inventor of modern day swag. Armed with his Diplomat crew, pink furs, pink Range Rovers, and a permanently blasé attitude, the Harlemite went from regional sensation to global tastemaker during his tenure at Roc-a-fella in the early 2000s. His extracurricular endeavors in viral videos and straight-to-DVD films drew the veil on a spotless sense of humor that made him something of a hood Larry David. No one in hip-hop has maintained an organic allure the way Killa Cam keeps folks checking for him, even when his musical output has faltered.
That last bit looks like it may change. In a surprise move, Cam has linked with A-Trak's Fool's Gold through Dame Dash for a Federal Reserve EP. With Jim Jones and Juelz Santana in tow, the EP looks to make good on the promise of a Diplomats reunion that 2010's "Salute" hinted at.
"Humphrey" is the first taste off Federal Reserve. A-Trak brings Party Supplies in to lace a beat that would fit well in Cam's discography, somewhere between Come Home With Me and Purple Haze. Mr.Spacely Sprocketis in great form with hyper-local Harlem references, Street Fighter punchlines and classic adlibs (Iain't fight my way to the top of the food chain to be a vegetarian!). Killa!
