"Mountain Mountain" is the first single off Australian artist Calan Mai's forthcoming EP This Isn't How You Get Home. On this one, singer/songwriter Jordan Lawrence teams up with Singaporean vocalist Linying. She offers tender, bright vocals atop his to create a duality of timbres.
Lawrence's songwriting has a certain poignant ease to it. His words are carefully chosen and loom under the guise of simplicity, but carry a much heavier, significant message.
"Mountain Mountain" explores the inevitable change and transformation that characterizes life. Originally written two years ago, the artist explains:
"In the studio I unraveled, tore down and rebuilt Mountain Mountain because I wanted the song to change the way I had.”
Produced and mixed by Adam Lyons of Fairchild and Lyon Apprentice, the track contains almost subliminal electronic ingredients coupled with traditional acoustic-folk guitar. These influences mesh nicely to add a subdued feeling of yearning to the song.
Keep an eye on the horizon for This Isn't How You Get Home, which will be released through Canvas Sounds.
