It's been almost ten years since Late of the Pier's Fantasy Black Channel and every day I have at least one moment where I wish I was listening to it instead of whatever else I'm rotating through.
Imagine my surprise when I first hit play on "Gibraltar Ape" and, for the briefest moment, when the vocals sound like they're coming straight out of a tunnel, I thought I had that same Late of the Pier album on again.
The similarities to those wacky new ravers pretty much end there, aside from the fact that I find it hard to identify just why I'm so into this. It's an easy-going on for sure, but there's enough edge to make it just as good for a casual, grooving listen as it is to score a late night by the river with your mates and a whole load of cans.
