Why do we like this?
Melbourne/Sydney trio Bushwalking is all the rage at the moment. Having grabbed our attention with last year's excellent debut First Time, it seems they are back for more, with the throbbing, thumping single "High Hogs."
Ella Stile's disarmingly raw vocals and Karl Scullin's spiky guitar complement each other perfectly in this snarling, concise, and sonically beautiful mix of pounding drums, thick bass, and haunting harmonies. Pondering the question "Should I push or just go slow?", "High Hogs" continues to build and build, before ending abruptly in a spray of feedback and delay.
Reminiscent of fellow Chapter Music artists Twerps and Pikelet, Bushwalking's highly anticipated sophomore album No Enter is due out on September 6, and I can't wait to hear it.
