Why do we like this?
Riding high off the success of his 16th studio album, Prisoner, Ryan Adams is back with another glorious cover, this time tackling Bruce Springsteen's "Streets Of Philadelphia."
While the singer songwriter is known for covering other artists periodically throughout his career (Oasis, Radiohead, Taylor Swift), there's a good reason for his Springsteen rendition. BBC Radio's 6 Music is celebrating the year 1994 this Friday, so Adams' cover of the 1994 Oscar winning track makes total sense.
Adams strips away the soaring 80s synth and driving percussion of the Springsteen's original, Turning "Streets Of Philadelphia" into an intimate and cathartic expression of of death and disease that's even more haunting than The Boss' version.
