Why do we like this?
Tom Cascino, the man behind San Francisco's electronic act Broke For Free, just recently dropped his latest EP Gold Can Stay, and it is just as beautiful and inspiring as the rest of his work. After reviewing the lead single "The Gold Lining" for the EP a couple of months ago, I was awfully impressed by Tom's particularly chill style of production.
The EP is based around the many guitar harmonies and layers that were provided to Tom by Mark Edwards, and so we can say that this is a collaboration of some sort, with "Budding" being another laid back electronic instrumental masterpiece. It's hard to describe succinctly what's going on in this track, I can just simply say that the harmonious guitar lines, the atmospherics, and the pulsating beat all just work incredibly well together.
Honestly one of the best things to wake up to in the morning is a little bit of Broke For Free.
