Why do we like this?
Okay so this band doesn't even have a full album out yet, but their EP is so good it's worth watching this space now. The indie pop sounds of Broadcast 2000 include cello, glockenspiel, and guitar to create lovely upbeat melodies. Add some brit accented vocals and you have Sufjan Stevens if he were from London, but still, the sounds are original. From the likes of it, Broadcast 2000 is multi-instrumentalist Joe Steer with rotating friends supporting live sets.
The infectious melodies of Broadcast 2000 have charmed their way onto my playlists and I give them a big thumbs up. "Rouse your bones" and "Your own worst enemy" get me foot-tapping, while "Get up and go" and "All is said and done" slows things down a bit. My bets are high that their upcoming album lives up to their myspace page. In my search, I also couldn't help but notice that their song has been used in an end poverty campaign. Given my day job, it's nice to see my world's coming together.
"Reviews of Broadcast 2000 are few and far between, but here's one for you: "Joe Steer's debut mini-album just needs (but, at this rate, probably won't get) a balmy Indian summer to put a zephyr in its sails and see it soundtracking a few September barbecues"¦ For fans of Rufus Wainwright, David Byrne and Chris T-T. Lovely stuff." "“The Sunday Times UK
