You probably are more familiar with Benson from his stint with The Raconteurs, namely,
this track, but Brendan Benson is a Michigan baby with talent that exceeds his numerous musical projects.
His newest single, "Bad For Me," sounds of authentic, 70s rock nostalgia. To achieve this, the entire album was recorded entirely in analog. What's more, it was recorded at a studio in Nashville, TN called, "Welcome to 1979." Fitting, no? "Bad For Me" has this Bowie flavor that continues to drive me wild. I've seriously had it on repeat for days.
There's undeniably something special about Benson, and his attention to detail shines in the quality of his music. His influences include The Cars, Electric Light Orchestra, Bowie, The Kinks, The Who, Paul McCartney, Todd Rundgren, so there's no doubt he's got a keen taste for music. Put all this in a blender (and then some), and out comes Benson, able to stand alone amongst the greats.
The full album,
What Kind Of World, will be released on Benson's own label, Readymade, in April. I seriously can't wait, and though I'll have the digital download handy, this baby better be released on vinyl. I'll snuggle it right next to my beloved Bowie collection and all will be right with the world.
