"Mary Anne" is the lead single from BOYTOY's forthcoming sophomore album Night Leaf.
First taking shape as a band in 2013 founding members Saara Untracht-Oakner (vocals, guitar) and Glenn Michael Van Dyke (vocals, guitar) have been joined by Chase Noelle (drums) and Lena Simon (bass) for their latest project. The Brooklyn band retreated to California with producer Kyle Mullarky to record new album, Night Leaf, and expectations are high if "Mary Anne" is anything to go by.
This first single is a breezy '60s influenced pop tune full of nostalgic flavours and summer-time vibes. It's the type of track that gives you a warm feeling in inside and one I've been listening to on repeat all morning. Talking about the track Untract-Oakner stated:
Mary Anne is about the feeling that comes with a new crush, a new lust. No matter how brief, that excitement, that electricity, takes over your body and consumes your head-space. It lingers after that person is gone, like psychedelic trails that you can still feel, until they dissipate into a faded dream.
Night Leaf is set for release later this year.
