Why do we like this?
Botany, otherwise known as Spencer Stephenson, is a Texan producer that draws inspiration from textured soundscapes, grim, ghostly samples, and thumping percussion. Through his use of unconventional sounds, Stephenson doesn't necessarily fall into one genre but is able to blur the lines between rhythmic experimentalism and dark electronic.

"Laughtrack,", a single that will not be featured on his upcoming Lava Diviner release, creates a textually inspired, surrealistic sound that is full of lingering beats and emotional tones. Featuring the narrative vocal accompaniment of Father John Misty's J. Tillman, "Laughtrack" captures a dark, entrancing nature that may or may not cross you over into an unfiltered world of brooding paranormal.

Speaking on about his working with Father John Misty, Botany, aka, Spencer Stephenson said:

"I produced the track using a lot of Brit-folk samples as I was a huge Fleet Foxes fan trying to bridge the gap between that style and my own for the sake of the collaboration. It didn't fit into the overall scheme of Lava Diviner, but I didn't want it to rot on my computer, so I remixed it and set it free."

Botany's debut album Lava Diviner is now available for purchase via Western Vinyl.
