If you're into deep house, Booka Shade should be a name that needs no introduction. They're makers of some of the deepest, most buoyant house music that has hit dance floors in our generation. These two Germans know how to make some jams that will go down in history. Yaruba is their latest project, a three-track EP leaning on their basement, clubby style.
My favorite track, featured here, is "Black Cow." Starting off with subtly delicate synths and a quietly booming bass line, vocals whisper over the track as the bass come back and hits the melody hard with energy.
The layers of synths, bass, and percussion are interwoven to a point of perfection, creating dissectible experience for those who listen closely enough. This is a heady tune for sure, and one that underground clubs are sure to love.
