Why do we like this?

I stumble upon love songs like this and try to resent them, because they remind me how broken I am. They remind me of the mistakes I've made. Somehow or another, though, in a weird sadomasochistic fashion, I continue listening until the pain turns to gratitude for the ability to feel.

Blue Iris is one of those new artists that you stumble upon and want to show everyone, because one, she's so damn good, and two, she has just shy of one hundred followers. Her writing on this record cut through my calloused exterior, leaving me listening to it over and over again.
