Why do we like this?
One of the truly awesome aspects of modern technology is that it has allowed a number of bedroom artists to fight for a chance at the spotlight. No longer are $50,000 recording deals needed for studio time -- just about anyone can fire up their Macbook and start pulling together tracks.
Oliver Gale of Blue Boats is one such artist, and his new track "I Am The Only One" is causing a splash, so to speak. At the very least, it flagged my attention.
The vocals on "I Am The Only One" draw a striking comparison to Clap Your Hands Say Yeah!, indie darlings of the early-2000s. But the comparison stops there, as an overarching mellowed-out bedroom vibe takes over the track. Ultimately, I find myself reminded of Astronauts, etc, and that's a good thing.
