With the musical saturation of the digital age, it seems as though many genres have polarized, breeding indistinguishable artists. It has become increasingly rare to find music that is simultaneously emotive, infectious and refreshing. However, I have found hope in Oslo-based pop duo: Blosh.
The team is comprised of vocalist/cellist Teresa Bernabe alongside guitarist Jorgen Berg Svela (say it out loud, it's fun I promise.) Both trained musicians, they bring a refined, technical edge to their music while keeping it exuberant and breezy.
An uncommon feat in indie pop, Blosh creates a complex sound I haven't seen so tactfully executed since Pearl And The Beard.
The duo meticulously balances smooth vocals and swelling cello melodies (swellodies?) with gritty, staccato guitar riffs and ethereal background vocals. Their ability to successfully combine hard and soft elements creates a unique interplay of opposites.
You can support their beautifully individual music by streaming their debut album, Keep Bleeding Keep Breathing here, or by pre-ordering it here. The album will be available February 12.
