Consider 2014 the year of new labels. It seems almost a regular thing to hear about new labels, or imprints, and I'm really not complaining about it. We received the chance to premiere the first track from new imprint Imaginary Friends Records, and it's a nostalgia-laden disco hit. Being that this is the first track from Imaginary Friends, I'm more than ecstatic to hear what's next.
Blood Moon is the moniker of 25-year-old Jesse Brickel, who is a multi-talented instrumentalist from the heart of Brooklyn, NY. "Ghost" is the debut single off of his upcoming EP titled Cosmic Sands, which is a name I really love. I'm assuming it's a spin of the font "Comic Sans" -- correct me if I'm wrong.
"Ghost" is a disco meets pop soon-to-be hit, which really showcases the evolving motion we all know as dance music. It tells a story, which I find a lot of tracks generally lack these days. Art's depiction is typically left up to the listener/viewer, and this record particularly seems to relate to my youthful days being unnoticed by some girls (emo blogger moment).
You can call me a hipster, but I'm really excited for this EP to come out on tape -- hey, my car only has a tape player! I just know I will be bumping this track on my way to Miami Beach every weekend.
If Indie Shuffle had some form of a rating system, I would imagine it would be based on high-fives -- twenty being the highest -- and I would totally give this record at least seventeen high-fives!
