Why do we like this?
Are you looking for a new band that represents all that's light and breezy on a cool summer evening? I think you've come to the right place. Nothing says fresh like Blonds. Originally from Florida but newly relocated to Brooklyn to record their album, Blonds is soon to be a household name. I don't want to go calling a band "Beach House copycats," but Blonds certainly comes close. That said, imitation is often the sincerest form of flattery, and I think that what Cari Ray and Jordy Asher have done here is absolutely worth a listen.
Their single, "Time" is a low-tempo breath of fresh air. The track starts off slightly dim and heavy, but don't let that sway you -- it soon takes a turn for the airy and atmospheric. Within this track lies a strong orchestral undertone underneath the layers of synths and beats that make up the body of the song. Lead singer Cari Rae's vocals are silky smooth and luscious, swiftly coaxing you throughout the whole song.
So far, I really like what Blonds represents. Just listen to the lyrics: "Time is on our side/Everything's alright." Isn't that the attitude we should all have in general and especially in the summer? This may just be the anthem you were looking for.
And soon you'll be able to hear their whole album, The Bad Ones, out of August 7! In the meanwhile, check out their cover of Lana Del Rey's "Born To Die."
